Known as the holiday and tourism paradise of the Mediterranean, Kemer hosts thousands of visitors with its blue flag beach, clean air, green nature and unlimited nightlife. Kemer's oldest history dates back to 690 B.C., in other words, foundation of Phaselis Ancient City. In the area where Kemer is located, there is a settlement known as Eski Köy (Old Village) and consisting of marshes and lakes formed as a result of floods coming from the mountains in the 1910s. People in Eski Köy built a 23 km long stone wall on mountain feet to protect themselves from these floods. Afterwards, Eski Köy began to be called Kemer (Belt) due to this wall.
Kemer is a pretty holiday village on Mediterranean coast, 40 km away from Antalya. While it was a small village until the beginning of 1980s, it became the most important holiday center of Turkish tourism with facilities opened in 35 years. Kemer has an extremely important place in Antalya’s tourism with settlements such as Beldibi, Göynük, Kiriş, Çamyuva, Beycik, Tekirova and Çıralı.
